The purpose and activities of this organization shall be in conformity with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. The following information obtained from the Alabama Cattlemen's at www.bamabeef.org.

Founded in 1944, the Alabama Cattlemen's Association serves as the combined body of over 12,000 members and as Alabama's qualified state beef council. [ACA is located in the Alabama Cattlemen's Building] two blocks from the State Capitol. It is really not just built of brick and mortar but comes from the pastures and hay fields of every rural section of the state. It was built, and is maintained and supported by men and women who know first hand what it is to get their hands dirty with the soil and know the toil of honest sweat streaming down their faces. It is a true and worthy monument to those who through years good and bad times, plentiful and lean, have labored to build a $2 billion beef cattle industry in the state they love and cherish.

A large grass roots board of directors governs the association, which is responsible for both the membership and beef checkoff funded programs of work. The board includes the president of each of the 67 county chapters in the state, along with the state officers, past state presidents and lifetime directors. These state and local leaders meet at least 4 times a year and serve without compensation. From the beginning, the association sought out influential willing individuals who would give their best in leading the association.

The ACA serves as the voice of the state's cattle producers and beef industry. The news media today demands instantaneous response to critical issues and beef certainly has been in the news.

In today's political climate, laws and regulations impacting cattle producers and landowners occur more often and are more extreme. Through the ACA's affiliation with the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Alabama cattlemen are represented on a daily basis in Washington, DC where there is a constant ongoing battle to preserve our way of life. ACA's grassroots membership and effective lobbyist in Montgomery have over the years successfully protected cattle producers and landowners. Clean water, private property rights, international trade, animal disease, food safety and taxation are some of the areas of concern where your interests are represented by the ACA in Montgomery and Washington.
